A Family Favorite Classic Regency Trading Card!!

It’s another new week, which means a new trading card for The Book Nook, my own category of collectible cards for my Romance Writing With A Twist Books.

This week’s book, number 7, is THE MAGIC TOKEN, an EPPIE finalist for best historical romance novel.

At the end of the Blog you’ll find the digital card that you can click on and save to your device.

Here’s a blurb about THE MAGIC TOKEN:

An old woman gives skeptical Amanda a magic coin. It couldn’t possibly work, but how else can she explain her sudden good fortune?

Amazon.com and Smashwords.com.

The print copy is also available https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094LC6K2B

A MAGICAL TOKEN

When Amanda Barclay receives a magic token as a gift from a stranger, she is more than skeptical about whether this gold coin can change her fortunes. But then the very man who captured her heart years ago suddenly appears. Is it destiny or cruel fate? Does he even remember her? She desperately needs the position he offers as governess, but how can she endure being near to a man so beyond her reach?

A DIFFERENCE IN RANK

Marcus Hamilton, Duke of Yarborough, is a man burdened by family and political responsibilities. He does not have the time nor the inclination to dally with women beneath his station. But a chance meeting throws him together with Mandy, the engaging young sprite from his past, causing him to reevaluate his beliefs. For once in his life, the call of love beckons far stronger than the duties and obligations of his position.

Here are some fabulous reviews:

EPPIE eBook Award Finalist for Best Historical Romance

* 5 Hearts! The supporting characters are very good. I love Dona InĂªs weaving in and out of the story along with Pritchard, Nannette, Gregory and most especially Duca di Maggiore. Ms. Knight has given us a truly fun story! I enjoyed how she wove the magic into this, and that coin was just great! Another thing I liked about her story is the little pieces of history she added, like the line about the Marquess of Londonderry… of course, I’m a complete period geek and had already looked this up years ago. This is such a good read! I especially liked the epilogue where we see who Amanda passes the coin to for its next magic turn! Oh, and yes, I have read at least one other story by Ms. Knight (which I liked) and now I have to find her other work since I loved this story!--The Romance Studio

* 5 Stars! Another fine book from Ms. Knight! Her meticulous research into this period piece shines throughout this wonderful story. From beginning to end, her words paint the scenes with rich visuals which enrich the story line of the two main characters. You will be invested in this story after just a few pages and will not want to put it down. This book deserves its place among the other novels of Ms. Knight.--Visionary Insight Press

* THE MAGIC TOKEN is gloriously magical and loads of fun! Susanne Marie Knight has taken a magical plot device and whipped up a charming tale in THE MAGIC TOKEN. Her characters are full blown and interesting, while the minor characters add spice. Ms. Knight’s writing is bright, and full of that Regency flavor readers enjoy. A sprightly romp with makes for a blast of a read!--Sime-Gen Reviews

* 4 Roses! Ms. Knight weaves a tale of magic. The golden coin is suppose to bring the person good fortune but seems good fortune for the book as well! This was a very lighthearted read and very easy to finish in one sitting--so be prepared to spend time with this story from beginning to end!--A Romance Review

* THE MAGIC TOKEN is an enchanting take on the Cinderella fairytale, complete with an evil stepmother and fairy godmother. This is a well-researched, well-written story with wonderful characterizations. The duke, who has overcome his abusive childhood, is a great hero and Amanda is a caring and compassionate heroine. There was also a very pleasing secondary romance between the squire’s son and the Portuguese woman’s granddaughter. THE MAGIC TOKEN was a great Regency read, with some magical elements. If you like fairytales, give THE MAGIC TOKEN a try.--PNR Reviews

* Susanne Marie Knight is a talented, versatile author whose books run from this light traditional Regency with a magical element, to time-travel, sci-fi romance, paranormal romantic suspense, mystery, and contemporary romance.--Romance Reviews Today

* THE MAGIC TOKEN has Knight’s usual boisterous extended family, lonely child with a flighty mother and spunky heroine who wins the hero’s heart without even trying to. The characters are vivid and sympathetic, and the story rolls along nicely. There are hints of true magic in the story--the good luck charm is depicted as a token with real power--but the romance and most of the story itself rests on the usual day-to-day lives of the characters. Knight writes Regency romance well, her language and the concerns of the characters clearly reflect the culture they are living in.--PNR Reviews

* 5 Stars!! A Real Page Turner! My family loved THE MAGIC TOKEN. It's a charming Regency imbued with magic and lots of wonderful characters. Once I opened the book, I left all my troubles behind and had a lively adventure with Amanda, Marcus, and company. Isn't that what reading is all about? My heartfelt thanks to Ms. Knight. I'm one of her fans!--Reader Comment

* OH … MY … GOSH!!! I just finished The Magic Token! I loved it! LOVE LOVE LOVED it! You are such a gifted writer … l love how you wove the story in and out of all the different real historical facts. And the coup de grace was Charles Darwin--and how you read about his mentioning he had a gold coin… wow, too cool! And I loved the comeuppance of Nanette… LOL… I just loved the book… and Gregory! I loved your line about how she looked in Marcus’s eyes, then they became the eyes of a stranger! It was great! Love love loved it!--Reader Comment

* Enjoyed it very much. This is a page-turner!--Reader Comment

* Fans of Susanne Marie Knight will enjoy THE MAGIC TOKEN!--Reader Comment

* Leave all your cares away and enter an exciting new world. Live the dreams and enjoy all that you read--problems are forgotten and love, romance, excitement and live a life not only different, but one you could never believe you could. Reading is in fact another world--it affords you an escape and entertainment too easily left behind because of television and movies. They can never give you the true entertainment and excitement a good book does. Read one of [Susanne Marie Knight's] books and compare--you will not be sorry.--Reader Comment

* A charming Regency with the intrigue of magic twisted with the fortunes of fate played out with wonderful characters.--Reader Comment

* A lovely story! I really enjoyed it.--Reader Comment.

I hope you enjoy Amanda’s and Marcus’ adventures, and also the seventh of this digital card series, THE MAGIC TOKEN.

The Number One Trading Card!

Which card in my collectible series is Number One? It’s the very first novel of mine that was published, of course. Here it is: the newest card from The Book Nook, my own category of collectible cards for my Romance Writing With A Twist Books.

This week’s book, number 1, is GRAVE FUTURE, a Gottawrite.net Award Winner Favorite!

At the end of the Blog you’ll find the digital card that you can click on and save to your device.

Here’s a blurb about GRAVE FUTURE:

An innocent tourist is stranded in an isolated cabin with a hostile stranger, an eerie fireplace, and a Shakespeare-quoting ghost.

Amazon.com and Smashwords.com

DRAGGED INTO DANGER. When Jocelyn Hunter is stranded in an isolated cabin with an antagonistic stranger, she has no idea of the danger that awaits her. Will she be able to discover Dan’s dark secret and can she convince him to set aside his obsession and listen to his heart?

OBSESSED WITH REVENGE. Federal agent Dan Ferguson is haunted by his desire to bring a killer to justice. When innocent Jocelyn unexpectedly comes into his life, his first thought is to get her away from the danger lurking in the shadows. Can he overcome his reluctance to accept her help and finally admit his growing love for her?

Here are just a few of GRAVE FUTURE’s fabulous reviews:

If you love the combination of a good mystery with a twist of paranormal, you’ll enjoy this book. Although a fairly new writer on the scene, Ms. Knight could certainly compete with some of today’s top writers. When Jocelyn is stranded in the middle of the Pocono Mountains, she is forced to spend the night in a creepy house located next to a cemetery. The owner is abrupt and rude and even locks her in her room that night! She soon sees a strange light and discovers that there is more to Dan than meets the eye. Has a local resident been murdered? And who murdered him? The characters are vivid, the plot holds you until the last page and the author is a rare gem.--Gottawrite.net. Picked as a GottaWrite Award Winner Favorite!!

5 Stars! GRAVE FUTURE was a fantastic book to read! I enjoyed every page of it! A real “ghost” story, as you can read seldom nowadays. Susanne Marie Knight did a wonderful job writing this novel, if you ask my opinion! You couldn’t help but keep on wondering, the book contains one surprise after the other. If you think you have the answer to a question, you’ll notice soon enough as you read on that more and more questions (and answers) will come to baffle your mind! And then I haven’t even spoken about the “mystic” atmosphere you sense during the time you read this book... A real page turner combined with strong characters, a lot of mystery and a touch of love; this is a must read!--Euro-Reviews

5 Stars! Well, this was a very good story. A great heroine, Jocelyn, and a wonderful hero, Dan. Throw in a helpful ghost and a despicable bad guy and you have got a story you won't want to put down!--Amazon.com

5 Stars! I just finished reading GRAVE FUTURE. Loved it! I couldn't put it down--actually didn't want to stop reading and go back to work. I love ghost stories and this book is so spooky, it gave me nightmares! I even got chills when I read the tunnel scene. GRAVE FUTURE's characters and their romance are fully developed with a believable and compelling plot; it's absolutely intriguing. For an engrossing story that keeps you glued to its pages, I highly recommend GRAVE FUTURE. It's one of my favorites.--Amazon.com

5 Stars! Great Read!--Goodreads.com

4 Stars! Susanne Marie Knight sure knows how to create a book packed with mystery especially one with ghosts and a woman so drugged up she thinks she has worms in her hair. There were some funny scenes I liked, especially the Shakespearean ghost that keeps talking to Jocelyn. I especially liked Dan each time trying to keep cool when it’s obvious he’s attracted to Jocelyn. GRAVE FUTURE is definitely aptly names since the cabin is right next to a cemetery the thought of which will give you chills to the bone. This is a great book to pick up and read as it is filled with suspense ending with a scene that will make you jump.--Fallen Angel Reviews

Graveyards, secret tunnels, moldy smells, ghostly lights, and some frightening characters all make GRAVE FUTURE a creepy and scary romantic suspense. Jocelyn was hoping for days of relaxation but instead gets involved in a nightmare of fear; and Dan, hoping to get the goods on Perry for causing his cousin's death, is determined to find out the truth and put Perry behind bars. Both are interesting characters once Dan loses his surliness and readers meet the real Dan. The secondary characters are equally fascinating, Velma, who is mentally unstable, and her brother Perry, a drug runner who looks like an angel, but is evil personified. They both heighten the thrills and chills of the tale. The thought of living next to a graveyard is terrifying, but it certainly adds to the eeriness of this story. Reminiscent of an old gothic novel, but with a feisty heroine and a handsome hero in a modern setting, GRAVE FUTURE will provide several hours of reading enjoyment for readers of romantic suspense and/or paranormal romance.--Romance Reviews Today

The conclusion will get your heart pumping and maybe even raise the hairs on the back of your neck. For those of you who enjoy a modern-day romance with a good dose of a thriller mixed in, this book is definitely for you!--Writers Club Romance Group

GRAVE FUTURE is more intriguing than most romances, with elements of danger, and mystery that are sure to keep you guessing throughout. A story of love, death, crime, betrayal and intrigue that will keep you hooked right to the end.--Writers Exchange

4 Stars! A fun read with touches of the paranormal, suspense, and romance blended by talented author Susanne M. Knight to make for a well told tale that will keep you reading. Recommended for a dark and stormy night when the wind is howling down the chimney and the house creaks in response. Enjoy. I did.--Mysteryfiction.net

This story has a Gothic atmosphere to it. This adds to the feeling of fear and suspense with the author handles admirably. The sexual tension is well-done, as is the danger and fear the heroine experiences. Recommended for anyone in need of a well-plotted thriller with a romantic edge.--Scribes World Reviews

4 Stars! I felt that Knight did a wonderful job of meshing the transcendental threat into the story with it being outlandish. The slow development of Dan and Jocelyn’s relationship was especially believable. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy an intriguing romance with some celestial interference.--Inscriptions Magazine

4 Stars! I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I recommend GRAVE FUTURE to a variety of people. Anyone liking romance, mysteries, and paranormal should find this book interesting.--Sime-Gen Reviews

Believable romantic tension!--Romantic Times BookClub

The Scoop on Writing THE KILLING KISS

THE KILLING KISS is Case Number Seven in my popular Minx Tobin Murder Mystery Series, and is very special because it was requested by one of my ardent readers, Roy from the United Kingdom. He asked if there were more Minx Tobin books to be had. At the time, there was not, so I then jumped on the bandwagon with THE KILLING KISS.

I truly had fun revisiting all the characters and also writing about love and romance from a marriage perspective. This story is set about one and a half years after book Number Six: THE EMBEZZLED ENVELOPE.

To recap: Minx is a fitness instructor newly relocated to Los Angeles, California, who has a knack for solving puzzles--puzzles concerning dead bodies. For fun, romance, and... unexpected corpses, follow her adventures in this murder mystery series!

KISSES TO DIE BY

As Minx Tobin Harris juggles her new life as wife, mother, and exercise instructor, she’s drawn into LAPD’s latest case: a serial kisser who targets L.A.’s Homicide Division. The perpetrator’s “random” kisses are turning out to be not so random... and then they become fatal. While Minx worries that hubby Gabe is on the Kissing Killer’s list, Gabe worries that maybe the killer is really after Minx.

Homicide Lieutenant Gabe Harris not only has his hands full with his new wife and new baby, he also has a perplexing new case to worry about. Someone has infiltrated LAPD’s hall of records and has compromised police security. After Gabe receives some provocative photos featuring Minx, he orders extra protection for his wife, but will that be enough to stop the murderer’s Killing Kiss?

Minx worries that Los Angeles’ newest serial killer is after her husband, Gabe. But maybe it’s Minx that the killer wants to “kiss!”

 Here are some great reviews!

5 Stars! Minx Tobin says it best: It’s old home week--with Number Seven in the Minx Tobin Murder Mystery series. I’ve been a fan of Ms. Minx since THE BLOODSTAINED BISTRO so naturally I scooped up THE KILLING KISS. How lovely to get reacquainted with all these wonderful characters! I thoroughly enjoyed reading how Minx handles or juggles life as a new mother along with her fitness career. This book can be read as a standalone, however my advice is to go back and read books One through Six, too. Seeing how Minx and Gabe evolve in their relationship is immensely satisfying. Don’t miss this!--Mystery Maven’s Reviews

There’s a Kissing Bandit running around LA, knocking out folks and leaving a decal of red lips on their foreheads... and sometimes elsewhere. When these kisses turn deadly, fitness instructor Minx Tobin Harris has to solve this mystery puzzle because she believes her new hubby, Gabe, is being targeted by the killer. THE KILLING KISS is a delightful and inventive tale reuniting all the major players in the Minx Tobin universe. I enjoyed reading how each character “grew”... or not... in the year and a half since Book Number Six. If you enjoy well-written and satisfying whodunits, give the Minx Tobin Murder Mysteries a try. You won’t be disappointed! Two thumbs up!--On The Edge Reviews

Okay, on these blog articles, this is the spot that I always write a tidbit from real life. For THE KILLING KISS, I’m doing something different. Because Minx and Gabe have been with me for seven books now, they have a tremendous amount of “life experiences” accumulated, and lots of those experiences have nothing to do with me. Sure, I could write about breast-feeding and compare that to Minx’s take on breast-feeding, but you know what? I’m not going to!

Instead, I’m going to talk about a tradition I personally created: the Italian tradition of Fortuna. It’s a lovely tradition about true love. Any man giving a lady a bouquet with the four colors of roses is meant to be her husband. Red for love, white for truth, pink for romance, and yellow for hope. This “tradition” first started with the classic Regency, THE CONTRARY CONTESSA, and also appeared in the murder mystery, FLIRTING CAN BE MURDER. And now it shows up in THE KILLING KISS, as a gift Gabe gives to Minx.

Here we have Gabe following this tradition to apologize for a misunderstanding.

“Sweetheart,” Gabe murmured as he nibbled his way down to her lips. “I apologize, too. I should have... well, never mind. I ran into a lovely Italian lady who told me about the tradition of Fortuna--true love. Any man giving a woman the four colors of roses is meant to be her husband. Red for love, white for truth, pink for romance, and yellow for hope. I thought I would honor this so you would know that I truly am meant to be your husband.”

So romantic! I hope you enjoy Minx and Gabe’s adventures!

ONE WIFE TOO MANY is a perfect second chance at love story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading how they met each other again with no recognition, and yet there was something achingly familiar that they just couldn’t identify. 5 STARS! Amazing Book! After reading The Reluctant Landlord, which I was very impressed with, I decided to read another one of Susanne's books, One Wife Too Many. 5 Stars!--Amazon.com

4.5 STARS!! Susanne Marie Knight has written a wonderful feel good story with LOVE AT THE TOP. Even the secondary characters are amazingly endearing. I loved the idea of a wealthy man living as a commoner. Cassidy's openness and obvious concern for others makes her a wonderful character. She was so willing to go out of her way for a complete stranger. Alex and Cassidy make the perfect couple. Alex just has to convince Cassidy of that. You could almost hear Alex's mind whirling as he tried to figure out how to get through to Cassidy. This book was a pleasure to read, and I'm sure I'll read it many times over in the near future.--Romance Junkies

LOVE AT THE TOP is a surprisingly romantic tale of two strangers meeting in the park and a relationship developing quickly. Alex and Cassidy are both strong, in-depth characters that are a joy to get to know. I found myself cheering for them as they struggled with secrets, past hurts, and demanding jobs to discover love. Their rollercoaster relationship reminded this reader of normal everyday people, who struggle daily with problems. A true Cinderella fairy-tale romance, LOVE AT THE TOP brings tears and laughter to all romance readers. Ms. Knight captures romance perfectly from first glance to the finish line so to speak. For an outstanding romance, order your copy of LOVE AT THE TOP. I highly recommend it.--Word On Romance

Romantic and sweet, LOVE AT THE TOP is a truly heartwarming romance that plays up a romance between people who at first seem like total opposites but quickly, both the reader and the characters see that it is what is beneath the surface that truly makes them compatible. Alex is a charming rogue who aches for Cassidy. readers will enjoy his pursuit of her because he is so tenacious about it, while at the same time being funny and sexy and very much in love. Susanne Marie Knight has written a humorous and tender love story that will please all romance fans.--Fallen Angel Reviews

LOVE AT THE TOP is a fairytale of a romance with an old fashioned hero. My heart fluttered when I met Alex. I melted when I met Mr. Hayden-Smith. Ms. Knight has penned a delightful romantic romp. LOVE AT THE TOP is a short, fast-paced read, and I highly recommended this charming story be read on a spring day while sipping iced tea.--Romance Reviews Today

I had so much fun reading LOVE AT THE TOP. The storyline of a rich man and working girl is hard to resist. I loved Alex’s character, even though he wasn’t honest with Cassidy. Cassidy is stubborn because of her past experience but I fell in love with her character also. The secondary characters and the wonderful dialogue made this a book that kept you laughing until the last page.--Scribes World Review

Ms. Knight has taken a familiar premise and created an enjoyable fast read. Warm-hearted characters with legitimate concerns and carrying familiar baggage take this book out of the ‘cutesy’ range and into the realm of warm tenderness that leaves the reader with the warm fuzzies.--Road To Romance

LOVE AT THE TOP is a light-hearted romantic story that you could read within one day. A nice tale of “Millionaire Marries Working Girl” and somehow a fairy tale comes true.--Love Romances

LOVE AT THE TOP is a nice tale. The hero, Alex, is attractive. I am looking forward to reading more of Susanne Marie Knight’s work.--A Romance Review
