Neanderthals' Nemesis

While our intrepid hero and heroine get, ahem, better acquainted in my WIP, ForEvver, I thought I'd write a little about the book-of-the-week, Competitors!

Competitors! deals with Neanderthals, and the supposition that maybe our nearest human relatives aren't extinct at all. This paranormal romantic suspense is actually a mystery too, with a serial killer on the loose--a killer who just happens to collects skulls.

Romance Writing With A Twist Factoid: Competitors! was written with a certain neighborhood in the Bronx in mind. The neighborhood I grew up in! Here's a picture of the elementary school that Joel "The Dumpster" Levine attends.

Also, the apartment where Vivianne Quinn recuperates from her car accident is an apartment near and dear to my heart. In the novel, the "high, side tables boasted of pea green, potbellied lamps" owes its genesis to this picture:
