Let It Snow--Not!

Snow, snow, snow! It's been snowing here for five days. Pretty, yes. Inconvenient, very. I usually save most of my holiday shopping for, like, RIGHT NOW. Ah, well. Been housebound for too long, I guess! But before I wish you all a very HAPPY HOLIDAY, I need to let you know about my science fiction romance, ForEvver. What happened to me?

Wow. I look back and see my last post is September 28, 2008. What in the world happened to me, other than disappearing off the face of the earth???

I didn't mean to disappear. Honest. It's just that the Real World took precedence over the Living in the Romance World. So, now that we've got that out of the way, what's been going on over these past few months?

Lots. My mother just passed away last month. Here's a picture of the Knight family with yours truly sleeping on the job. Then again, sleeping is one of the things I do best. :))

Thank you to all who have have sent very kind sympathies to me and my family during this difficult time. I appreciate your prayers more than I can say.

So, on a lighter note:

What else has been going on, you ask? Well, LEAPS OF FAITH, the science fiction anthology with my story, "The Convert" was released last month. This EPPIE Finalist is now available at Amazon.com, among other locations. I also participated in a Blog Tour for the book, and was interviewed for lots of blogger sites!

SOJOURN THROUGH TIME was #1 at Fictionwise.com for awhile. Yippee!

Romance Writing With A Twist Factoid: When I was writing Past Indiscretions , I created the Colby clan with three boys and a girl. One weekend, my family met a couple with three boys and a girl in the same birth order. My daughter mentioned, "Mom, they all have the same face. It's scary!" I pounced on this sentence because it was a perfect fit, especially since my book deals with cloning.

Living in London

Greetings! As the summer slowly comes to a close, my Living in the Romance Writing with a Twist World has me living in London for my new WIP. Living in London vicariously, of course. Oh, to really visit! But then again, the date is October 1816, where things are very much different than today...

Or are they? According to the male protagonist, in 1816 an important issue being debated concerns the rights of the individual versus the rights of the state. Hmmm!

But enough politics! (Also a sentiment of A Noble Dilemma's hero.) Currently, he finds himself strolling along the Birdcage Walk bordering St. James's Park to the south. Sounds like a delightful place with a few rare Chinese trees, the Evodia Hupehenisis,

and many exotic birds--the pelican, for one.

While surfing the net, I came across an interesting story from two years ago about a pelican (a strict fish eater) sauntering over to a flock of pigeons in St. James's Park. It then grabbed one and held the pigeon captive in its beak. Twenty minutes later, the pigeon took an involuntary trip down the pelican's throat! Yikes. I guess the pelican forgot it was only supposed to eat fish. :))

New WIP!

Seems like forever (!) since I last posted. Been a bit behind in updating the Book-Of-The-Week, too. But the weather's been glorious, and it's almost impossible to stay indoors! Also, I've been deciding where to "travel" next. Can't stay away from England too long, so get ready for a good, juicy Regency!

What is the title, you ask? So far, A Noble Dilemma strikes my fancy. It's got a certain ring to it! It's too soon to give any details on what's going on, or who's doing what to whom, but I will include a picture that I'm using for inspiration as I write about Merry Ole London.

Contessa As Cosmo Girl

We Have Ignition!

Yes, that's right! My WIP, ForEvver, is now finished and I'm a happy camper. :)) The next step is to let the manuscript sit awhile. Then I'll reread the story, looking at it with fresh eyes. I'll be seeing if all the questions are answered, if there are any logic problems, missing information, etc. Plus I get to enjoy the entire book once again! Once I'm satisfied, then ForEvver is off to the publisher's. I'll keep you posted on when you can expect this science fiction romance to become available for your reading pleasure!

Have Christmas Card... Will Travel uses the Twelve Days of Christmas song to tell the story. A magic Christmas card sends lonely Meredith back in time... then returns her to her own century each morning. A handsome lord proposes, and she accepts, but then finds herself attracted to her fiancé’s honorable brother. How can she find happiness when she has one foot in the past with the other in the present? And what will happen when the twelve days of Christmas are over?

Romance Writing With A Twist Factoid: Originally, this story was set up to be a serial novel. Each week, a new chapter--corresponding with the twelve days of Christmas, would've been sent to subscribers, ending with Chapter Twelve: Twelve Drummers Drumming. In the end, Have Christmas Card... Will Travel was published all-in-one, and was the EPPIE Finalist for Best Historical Romance in 2008!!
