Blogging For You Gotta Read Reviews

On April 6, I blogged with You Gotta Read Reviews. Reader comments were very positive so I thought I'd repost the blog here for your enjoyment!

Here goes!

A big hello and thank you to Tami and You Gotta Read aficionados! I’m Susanne Marie Knight, and I’m your blog hostess for today, April 6. First, a bit about me: 2009 is my tenth year anniversary of being published. My motto is Romance Writing with a Twist, and to date I have 22 books published/under contract, with 2 more in the publishing queue.

Since I write in quite a few different genres, I thought I’d talk about my latest books in some of those genres along with what’s coming up.

My latest Regency published is Paging Miss Galloway, winner of the Awe-Struck Regency Award. A lady disguised as a man is a popular Regency theme with readers, so I thought I’d try my hand at it. I really enjoyed the challenges of making Danny/Danielle act as Lord Trelaine’s page!

Here’s the blurb:

More than she bargained for
Danielle Galloway is determined to visit her convalescing brother. She won’t let her father’s lack of permission stand in her way. Disguising herself as Danny, a servant boy, she takes to the road to begin her grand adventure...only to have her money stolen and her face battered by street ruffians. Now how will she get to the resort town of Bath?

More than he bargained for
The Earl of Trelaine rescues a down-on-his-luck young lad. Against his better judgment, he takes Danny on as his page as he journeys to Bath. But this boy harbors a shocking secret. What’s the earl going to do when he discovers his latest act of kindness might hurl him into the parson’s mousetrap?

If you’d like to see a video trailer for this book, here’s the link:

This title is published by Awe-Struck Publishing: www.awe-struck.net.

My latest paranormal romantic suspense published is The Wakefield Disturbance, whose video book trailer received a “Spine-tingling” recommendation from The Savvy Click.com.

Blurb:

A GIFT... OR A CURSE?
Lara Wakefield receives messages from the dead. Her latest “client” is a murdered young girl who wants to be put to rest. The girl’s killer, however, objects. Can Lara find the girl’s body without becoming the next victim?

MONEY OR LOVE?
Private investigator Stuart Manning wants nothing to do with supernatural phenomena. A retainer of $50,000 overcomes his reluctance. Lara’s innate ability, integrity, and beauty cause him to have second thoughts about psychics, while deadly occurrences cause him to believe the little girl’s murderer is still hanging around. How can Stuart protect Lara when the killer is always one step ahead?

Here’s a photo of a llama that was the inspiration for an important character in The Wakefield Disturbance. Resting on the grass can be very relaxing... or can serve another purpose! To find out more, read The Wakefield Disturbance!

This title is published by Uncial Press: www.uncialpress.com.

My latest science fiction romance published is Janus Is A Two-Faced Moon, the second book in the Janus series. The first book is the award-winning Janus Is A Two-Headed God.

Blurb:

BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE.

In the year 2458, injured ballerina Blade Sinclair agrees to participate in the Galactic Olympic Games. Unfortunately, she’s on the wrong team; an alien team. If Blade doesn’t win a gold medal, her family will die. If Blade does win, the Sarthox will destroy Earth. What’s a girl to do??

LOVE HURTS.

Security chief Christopher Bainbridge has had his share of traitorous females. At the Lunar Olympic Games, he finds himself mixed up with another one. But Blade doesn’t seem like a typical traitor, and against his own inclinations, he falls in love with her. How can he help her escape from the Sarthox and save the solar system at the same time?

If you ever happen to go to the Moon (!), here’s a greeting image you can send back to the folks at home:

This title is published by Awe-Struck Publishing: www.awe-struck.net.

My next book to be published (7/09) is ForEvver, a science fiction romance. Here is the blurb: In the year 2102, the Fountain of Youth exists for only a select few. But you can’t cheat death ForEvver.

One of the locations mentioned in ForEvver is Maui, a beautiful island I had the great good fortune in visiting. Here I am, dwarfed by the famous Iao Needle at Iao Valley State Park:

This title will be published by Awe-Struck Publishing: http://www.awe-struck.net/ in July 2009.

Currently, I’m working on a murder mystery series about a fitness instructor, Minx Tobin, who has a talent for sleuthing. I’ve finished two of the books so far, and am planning to write two more this year.

Here’s a picture of me conferring with the legendary detective, Sherlock Holmes on Minx Tobin’s latest case!

Stay tuned for more developments with the Minx Tobin Mystery Series!

I hope you enjoyed today’s blog. Please be sure to visit my website at http://www.susanneknight.com/ for all the latest Romance Writing with a Twist news!

Farewell to Maui + A Ballerina's Dilemma

Yes, it's time to say goodbye to Marvelous Maui. I've just finished Chapter 11 on my WIP, ForEvver, where our intrepid hero and heroine are leaving paradise to return to New Tri-Metropolis... in the wintertime. Brrrrr.

On the subject of temperatures, it was in the high eighties here today, so I can relate to my characters' reluctance to return to the cold weather!

While my ForEvver friends are enroute, let's talk about the book-of-the-week, Janus Is A Two-Faced Moon. In the year 2458, Blade Sinclair is your normal, typical prima ballerina, only she's suffered an injury and has to put her career on hold. More than anything, she wants to dance again. A mysterious stranger, Plevake Va-Thor, offers her a chance to dance and compete in the Galactic Olympic Games which will be held on the Moon. Blade agrees, only to find out later that Plevake Va-Thor isn't human.

If Blade doesn't win a gold medal for this alien team, her family will die. If Blade does win, Earth will be destroyed. What's a girl to do??

Janus Is A Two-Faced Moon is a sequel to the award-winning science fiction novel, Janus Is A Two-Headed God. Not only do Mighty JorVaal and Gracious Sophia return in this story, traveling from Xaaspar in the center of the Milky Way Galaxy to Earth's moon,

but the Denebian Christopher Bainbridge is featured as Blade's counterpart.

Coming in September: Sojourn Through Time--What happens when a nearly betrothed duke discovers an unexpected "package" mysteriously delivered to his estate?

Is it Spring? And a Continental Rose

That's the million dollar question here. Good weather some days... some not so hot. But flowers are starting to bloom, so maybe "warm and sunny" is in the future. Here's a picture of my yard to show that Spring is indeed on its way.

I still have the heat on in my office tho. :-( So, knowing this, you'll probably understand why I'm still in Maui with my WIP, ForEvver! I'm reluctant to leave the tropical paradise, as are my characters.

Meanwhile, back to the current Book-of-the-Week: A Continental Marriage. This award-winning Regency in the year 1814 deals with a American Rose, Nicolette Turner, who is summoned to travel across the Atlantic by her English grandfather, Lord Eldridge--a man who disinherited her beloved father.

Her grandfather wants her to marry Victor Kinkaid, Lord Cushing. Victor needs the money that Lord Eldridge offers. Nicolette accepts… only because her grandfather’s money sweetens the deal. Where does love fit into this financial transaction?

This novel takes place in Long Melford, Suffolk, and London, with a honeymoon trip to Southwold. Instead of pictures of those locales, I'm posting the original picture for the cover, done by artist Christine Poe. Here's my beautiful daughter!

Hope you enjoy!

Marvelous Maui

I'm glad to say that I'm back in Maui now with my science fiction futuristic romance, ForEvver. Yes, warm sea breezes, sunshine that just won't quit, and beautiful ocean beaches for me... and my characters!

This change in locations is really a great thing because it snowed again here this week. Boo. Hiss. The big question on everyone's mind here is:

Where is Spring?

Anyway, back to sunshine and tropical waters. After a refreshing (?) dip in the ocean, my hero carries the heroine back to her hotel room where... well, I can't say anymore now, can I?!! Here's a picture of Maui waters for you to enjoy. :))

Backtracking

More Romance Writing with a Twist! news: Well, I hate to leave tropical Maui, but sometimes a writer has to go for the greater good. In this case, I'm backtracking. Writing a novel doesn't always happen in a linear fashion. New characters enter the mix; old ones show a different side to their personality--things like that. So, I'm back on the Moon for a bit.

Just finished a scene for my WIP ForEvver where the Evver of the title is first introduced. He has a thing for our heroine. He also is concerned about aging, so he noshes on some nutritious Brazil nuts. High on selenium and good for your immune system. Yummy!

More backtracking. The current book-of-the-week is a time-travel Regency: Regency Society Revisited. This novel has quite a twist in that it starts off in the near future--February 2020, to be exact. Good grief! Time is catching up with my story! :)) Anyway, our heroine, Serenity Steele, is sent from New York

to Bath in February 1812.

There, she hooks up with the Wycliffe family, or more specifically, Nicholas Wycliffe, the Earl of Brockton, in London.

And doesn't havoc ensue then! Nicholas believes she's casting her net for his father, Lord Rotterham, so he makes Serenity his business so that she doesn't make a fool of his father. Lord Rotterham, on the other hand, has another matter entirely up his sleeve.

Just what will happen when Serenity's one year assignment is over? Should she stay in the past... or should she leave behind the man she loves?

Here's the book trailer for Regency Society Revisited: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0MKpu_peUs .

Hope you enjoy!

If it's Wednesday, it must be Maui!

That's right, Romance Writing with a Twist World is now centered in Maui, Hawaii. In my WIP, ForEvver, I've left Greater Paris with its colder February 2102 weather, to bask in the tropical sun. Along with my heroine, of course. ForEvver's hero plies the Moon Miss with exotic drinks like the Chi-Chi, one of my favorites as well. Vodka, pineapple juice, and coconut milk--yummy! Be sure you try this creamy mixed drink, too. :))

I'm glad to be in Maui right now because we've still been having snowshowers in reality land, even though it's April. Bummer! But perhaps Spring is around the corner. In any event, while my ForEvver characters are having fun... and danger in the sun, here's a picture of me in Maui (last year) at Iao Valley State Park. The famous Iao Needle is in the background.

Stay tuned for more Romance Writing with a Twist adventures!

NEWSFLASH! This week's featured book: Regency Society Revisited (see below) will also be available in audio book!!! I just was offered a contract for it, so get ready to listen to this best-selling time-travel Regency on your iPod, MP3 player, computer, CD player, or eBook reader. Never fear, I'll be posting when the audible RSR will become available.
